Neglect Season.
January 14th, 2011Right now pool water is very cold , it doesn’t require a lot of chlorine. But if you are not careful on regulating your pH chemistry by adding acid or using Tri Chlor tabs, you will find that the pool will calcify on the walls creating sharp crystals which could lead to requiring a drain & acid wash with possible sanding. Here are some photos of what it looks like:
I have seen this happen around our San Fernando Valley over & over again including a neighbor in Sylmar. This is an expense that can be avoided. There are several quick ways to check your pH; Test kits, meters and my favorite – dip sticks. Taking a few seconds can head off disaster.

Iron Canyon Pond
January 12th, 2011Hi Dave. I just wanted to drop you a quick note thanking you for the assistance you provided helping us replace the (stolen) pond pump. We are especially appreciative as we know you don’t really do pond repairs and, on top of that, managed to find a really economical second hand pump for us.
The waterfall is working great, the fish are happy ! Now if we can just stop the raccoons eating the fish we’ll be ecstatic !
Thanks again for all your assistance.
